Wastewater Operations Manager


JOB

Under limited supervision, performs administrative, supervisory, and technical work in planning, directing and coordinating, evaluating and maintaining the operations of the wastewater department infrastructure and facilities. Assignments are complex in nature and are carried out within established policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines issued by the Village and by the appropriate state and federal agencies.

  • Assists Director in developing and implementing department policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Oversees and manages project goals, strategies, priorities set forth by Director of Public Works.
  • Assists Director to ensure each program or division is in compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency, Florida Department of Environmental Protection and other regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Supervises contractors and verifies contractor work completion.
  • Participates in identification of future wastewater collection systems needs, the development of plans to address these needs and the implementation or feasibility studies and the evaluation of alternatives.
  • Conducts research and special studies for departmental needs, prepares reports, and presents findings and recommendations.
  • Evaluates adequacy of system process controls, provides direction to subordinate staff regarding SCADA and other systems, and recommends related system improvements.
  • Organizes, tracks, and verifies applications of approved changes, to include all contract work authorizations.
  • Supervises Wastewater Technicians and their daily work schedule/priorities.
  • Develops subordinates by providing training and developmental opportunities.
  • Composes reports and maintenance logs for the assigned area as required.
  • Ensures that all SOPs are followed and DOT, OSHA, Healthy and Safety and other requirements are met.
  • Conducts routine facility inspections.
  • Investigates, handles requests and complaints of the public regarding Wastewater matters.
  • Assists with purchasing, contracting and obtaining estimates for Wastewater related maintenance and tasks.
  • Oversees general maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable conditions.
  • Holds Wastewater Technicians responsible for vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Supervises emergency call outs during weekends, holidays, and non-business hours to insure continued operation of public utilities.
  • Occasionally may help with Public Works duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Five (5) years of experience in the Wastewater capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Driver's License. Knowledge of wastewater facilities and experience with vacuum sewer systems.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to

handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and taste or smell. The

employee frequently is required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The

employee is occasionally required to stand and climb or balance.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Some tasks may require exposure to dust and pollen. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but at times may be elevated.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
